Board candidates
The six Dallas ISD school candidates have raised nearly $300, 000 from donors and political action committees so far in their races, according to the latest campaign finance reports.
The leader is District 1 candidate Edwin Flores, who raised $32, 061 in the latest round and a total of $111, 261. District 9 candidate Damarcus Offord has raised the second most, bringing in $52, 505 in the last month and a total of $77, 655.
Not long ago DISD school board candidates could win an election without much money. But those days are over. The rise of political action committees and hefty donations from Dallas business leaders now mean that DISD school board candidates raise tens of thousands of dollars. Some candidates have raised more than $100, 000.
The latest campaign finance reports cover the period from April to May. Early voting has already started and Election day is May 9.
