Register to Vote in Missouri

In Missouri, you can register to vote by mail and in person.

Just submit a completed Missouri Voter Registration Application to your local county clerk.

Once your application is process, you’ll receive confirmation within 7 days.

NOTE: You can also submit voter registration in person at your local Missouri DOR office while renewing or applying for a driver’s license or ID card.

MO Military and Overseas Voters

If you are currently an active member of the military out of state or a U.S. citizen living abroad, you can process your voter registration through the Federal Voting Assistance Program.

Registering through this program allows you to request your absentee ballots for all federal elections for the year.

Just submit a completed Voter Registration and Absentee Ballot Request Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) (Form 76) to your local elections office.

NOTE: You will need to re-register every year that you are out of state or overseas.

Deadline to Register to Vote in MO

In Missouri, you must register to vote by the 4th Wednesday before the next election to be eligible to participate in it. If you don’t register by this time, you won’t be able to vote until the following election.

You can verify your voter registration and find your polling place at the Secretary of State webpage.

NOTE: If you will be out of state for the election but would still like to vote, you must request an absentee ballot by 5 p.m. on the Wednesday before the election date.

Change Your Voter Name or Address

If you move to an address within the same county, you can update your voter registration information on or before Election Day at your new polling place.

If you have moved to a new county or you need to update your name, you must resubmit the Missouri Voter Registration Application to the office of your election authority.

NOTE: If you move outside of your current election jurisdiction and fail to update your voter registration information before the registration deadline, you will NOT be able to vote in that election.
