Broward County Voter registration card
It’s time to fish out that old voter card from your wallet or junk drawer – and throw it away. Broward County is mailing new ones to all registered voters.
Many of the county’s 1 million-plus voters have new precinct numbers, said Mary Cooney, director of public services at the Broward Supervisor of Elections Office. New precinct numbers mean new voting locations for some voters, while others vote in the same places even though they have new precinct numbers.
Each card will list the voter’s polling place location. The new cards also show districts voters live in for Congress, state Legislature, County Commission and School Board.
The new cards are necessary because the county reworked its voting precincts last year, reducing the number to 577, down from 792. Others were renumbered.
Though the information is useful, the cards aren’t required to vote. Voters should get them in about three weeks, Cooney said.
